View on Old Paris. After the town-planning changes of Paris by Haussman in the years 1830 – 1860 there didn‘t remain much from the Middle Ages because of massive renewal and changes of streets and canalisation. Motivated by the historism, which was the central "idea" at this turn of the century, this reconstruction makes sense. Comparable areas also could be found at the world exposition at Brussels in 1935 ("Old Brussels") and Barcelona 1929 ("Spanish Village").
Above the entries to the piers there are hanging advertising plates for CHOCOLAT SUCHARD.
